Off with a bang...

It is the start of a new week, and so far so good. Our new house is starting to feel like a home, and it is really nice to life with friends which is something I have never really done before.

Christmas is only a few weeks away and we have not yet added the Christmas touch to our home, but we thought that if we just buy fairy lights in bulk and drape it everywhere it will instantly feel like Christmas, or a brothel. Either way it will definantly change the mood of the house =)

If you have time on your hand go to
this website. It is an agency where back home where a lot of our friends work, and they are counting the days to the launch of the new company. It will keep you entertained for a bit, and then you can move on to something else.

WHY????

This guy? tried to recreate this video and oh my fuck he failed:

Oooh Pretty...

Another one of my favourite shops in London is the Do Shop close to Carnaby Street. They have the coolest stuff for your house, and since I recently moved into my new place all I keep thinking of is what I can buy for my house.

This clock designed by Alberto Sala is definitely on my list of things to get for my new house.

Music on my mind...

The Black Ghosts = One half ex-Simian, one half ex-Wiseguys. Together, amazing. Buy there album on iTunes.

Recommended movie...

Mulholland Drive is one of those movies you either love or hate, you are either on the left side of the road or the right side with this movie. Although I am not too sure what exactly the movie is about, theories include explanations like dream sequences, a commentary on Hollywood and some very strange conclusions that I even find too weird. But apart from all of that, my love for this movie does not go away.
Naomi Watts who plays the lead character is brilliant in this movie and of course it is brilliantly directed by David Lynch. Mulholland Drive shows that not every aspect and plot twist should be spelled out for the audience in order to make a great movie. Or even that not everything should mean one thing, the viewer can make their own personal connotation to the storyline. The turns that the storyline takes will keep you guessing long after watching the movie. Maybe I love it as much as I do because of the fact that one of my favourite genres is film noir, or maybe because Naomi Watts is so damn good in it.

But as I said before, you will either completely love it and think David Lynch is a genius, or you will feel like you have just been robbed of 2 hours of your life that you will never get back.
Enjoy the ride:

Commercials for the Adidas House Party feat. The Ting Tings, Estelle, Katy Perry and Missy to name a few. First clip = invites, second clip = Party.

Oooh Pretty...

Like all people I have a few weaknesses. I dont see them as bad traits but rather as little bits of joy that makes me feel instantly better about everything. Apart from having a weakness for Apple products, I have a really big weakness for watches. There are two watches in particular that I have always wanted to purchase for myself and one of these watches is the Chiffre Rouge A06 by Dior Homme. Isnt it just one of the most beautiful things that has ever been designed?

Head over to
Dior Homme where you can buy this beauty on-line

Give the gift of shoes this season...

The Puma
Mongolian Shoe BBQ might just be the best way to give a special someone a very personalised gift that only you can give them. Be creative and make them a shoe that will match their personality.

Enjoy the BBQ...

Oooh Pretty...

I bought these rings for my roommate almost a year ago at this great little design shop just off Carnaby Street. The shop is called LifeStyleBazaar and the direct link to buy these rings is here. The rings are £6.50 each which means you can create a "McDonalds had a farm" family for cheap.

Music on my mind...

This morning while my new roommate Andrea was getting ready for work she was listening to music from a band called aKing. Generally I am not too crazy about South African bands because the quality of the production always feels unfinished to me but I have been proven wrong lately with bands like Straatligkinders and aKing.

You can find out all about aKing on their website
and you can buy their album  "Dutch Courage" here or on iTunes.

Here are two music videos from aKing, the first one is for the song "Safe as Houses" which I love and the second one is for the song "The Dance".
Enjoy...

Pretty Glasses

I am a sucker for anything new and shinny. And when it is something like the new Marc Jacobs sunglasses, well it makes it even worse. Are they not just beautiful? Oh and coincidentally it is almost Christmas, what are the chances?

My First Post

I was recently asked what my url link was and my answer to this question was pure silence and a very funny facial expression (which according to my friends I seem to do a lot).  The idea of creating my own website or blog seemed so strange because personally I do not feel like I have something of great importance to say to the world. My friends are usually the ones who hear my "great ideas" and epiphanies to which they laugh at or just look at me funny. That is also the reason why they will never get the link to this blog.

The real reason why I am writing this blog is because I recently applied for a design job and instead of asking me for my portfolio or CV, I was asked for either my website or blog url. So in the spirit of job hunting I am creating this blog so that the people at the awesome design agency called Poke in London can read my blog and think that I might be a good choice to work there =)

Another reason why I created this blog is because I recently moved from another country, again (long story) and I also moved house yesterday.  So at this time in my life I am feeling a bit unsure about my surroundings and I am also out of my comfort zone. Luckily I did move in with two of my very close friends who have also moved from back home, so that softens the blow a little. Relocating to another country always sounds like a great idea, but when you get on that plane and leave everything behind, you start to feel a bit different about it. Don't get me wrong I L-O-V-E living in London, but I do miss the familiar surrounding of home. I miss talking to my friends everyday, I miss my mother's cooking (and the fact that she did my laundry), I miss being able to lie in the sun most of the year, I miss thunderstorm, I miss my dogs, I miss my daily calls from Michelle and I really miss going to Tribeca with all my friends and getting drunk and making fun of all the people there. Yes we are that shallow =)

But I should also add that I love the fact that I can go to the Tate Modern and look at a Dali or Picasso whenever I want, I love walking through Soho with a warm cup of Starbucks signature hot chocolate (with cream please), I love the fact that I can go to Marc Jacobs and actually afford to shop there, and I love being close to my sister, my brother-in-law and my cousins. Most of all I love living with Andrea and Adriaan. Well, it is day 2 of us all living together so I will give an update later on if I still love living with them =)

For someone who did not want to blog I am rambling on a bit. If anybody out there actually reads this I just want to say that this blog will basically just be about my life (not that it is at all exciting at the moment) and things I like. These are a few of my favourite things (if you are humming the song from The Sound of Music then we are on the same level): design, movies, music, fashion and comic books, yes I am a geek. I even have the glasses and comics to prove it and I get really, really exciting when Apple launches a new product.

Now I will have to scout the internet for juicy stuff to post on my brand spanking new blog.
